i find most advice about using twitter as a self-promoting/networking/web 2.0/bizness t00l overwhelmingly creepy.
put it this way, a lot of the people i met in NY last year were really cool and very nice individuals, but getting sucked into conversations about such things with a few of them could kill the soul.
your thoughts on the promotional ego BS are my thoughts exactly. the reason i got into that shit in the first place (as well as LJ, and myspace, and facebook) were because they are all interesting places in which to deposit one's mind-crap. they all offer different methods of doing so and differing levels of interconnectedness with others.
here, i write for the sake of my own well being; i read others' LJs because they are interesting and entertaining and i care about what my Flisters are up to. FB is something i participate in while mocking it relentlessly in the process. most people probably don't pick up on that. myspace, i don't use anymore, and twitter is just *funny*. i'm being followed by bjork, i can see why imogen heap is taking so long to finish her new songs (OCD tweaking of recordings + tweet addiction) and of course: CHRIS CORNELL EATING SHRIMP.
teh st00pidz & lolz of teh internetz just does NOT get any better than that.
