What you say is pretty much how I felt about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I know purists were uncomfortable having a black American play Ford Prefect, and the introduction of the P.O.V. gun (which is in no incarnation of the series, radio, TV, or printed). But remember, too, that Douglas Adams tweaked the story and plot devices with every incarnation of the story, INCLUDING THE NEW MOVIE. And of course they have to condense most of the plot...it's not an extremely long, episodic, I, Claudius series like the BBC version was

You know what! You hit the nail on the head on one thing I thought was missing about Aslan's resurrection. It had been a while since I read the books and darnit, I kept thinking something was missing. I remember how much I loved how playful and celebrant Aslan was with the sisters.
I don't really mind the dramatic glowy heroic Jesusy return, but it wasn't because I saw the "OMG! LOOK! IT'S Christian allegory!!!!!!" I just thought it was majestic, in general. Pretty lion, all shiny and new. I wasn't reading too much into it because in all honesty even though I know that the whole series is CS Lewis' allegorical Christian symbol thing I just don't watch it for that. But I do miss the playfulness. :(
Who knows...maybe I couldn't stand it because I was watching it in 5.1 Surround Sound with Maxi-Bass Woofers which made everything five million times too loud and "realistic" for me. I'm used to a small mono-sound TV/laptop and watching movies with a thicker "reality barrier". I guess I also read the deep analysis in such things so much, that I can't just enjoy them and be plain "entertained" by what I'm seeing. I may have been taught to see things that way in my English major studies

Ya know what? I was worrying about this film not feeling the same as the old ones. I mean I'm a huuuuuge Indy fangirl and have been nearly as long as I have been a Star Wars fangirl. I fucking loved it too! I liked Mutt! I liked the ending because it SUITED the era they are moving into (Sci Fi pulp adventure stuff was getting big in the 50s) I LOVED it!
I am so tired of hearing everyone trashing on it like we're supposed to as Indy fans not like it. It's the same trash I heard because I actually LIKED the new trilogy in Star Wars instead of hating it with a seething passion of a thousand suns like everyone who claims to be 'real Star Wars fans' insist.
Also... Mega *Snrks* on your comment on Uwe Boll and Michael Bey! You just hit on the two most hated directors to me! Hahahah! You forgot Brucheimer in that equation! Hahahah! And yes, I honestly don't feel an original story would be bad, those two directors have proven they can pull good films off.
Oh, I would've put him in, but i had a 2 and 2 thing going and... I'm a little lazy. :) But with the "new trilogy", the only major problem I had was that Jar Jar was rather annoying. Other than that I was kinda okay with the new films, but then again, the new films had Ewan... with a beard... *drool*. :)

And a little Yu Gi Oh The Abridged Series quote for you:
"He's right! I can feel my life-force being slowly drained away from me! It's like I'm watching an Uwe Boll movie."
