* Damn. Carrie Fisher. I loved her as a kid of course. I think we all did, but I loved the person she grew into being even more. She was so tough and snarky and kind as an adult. I really came to apreciate her on a whole other level in the last few years, for her honesty and strength and willingness to be vulnerable when often all the world has wanted to do was hurt her.
This year it has felt like all the best ones are leaving in advance of a cataclysm.

* Okay, the commercial where grown men sing "The wheels on the truck" off key made me want to stab my ear drums the first time I hear it. At ten.... Someone needs to make it stop and take the off key repetitive chanting of "It's fun being weird" commercial with it.
* TNG Rewatch, Season 5:
- Power Play. Proof Marina Sirtis can act when they actually give her something to do.
- Ethics. Can you imagine a modern network show trying to tackle right to die issues? I remember preferring the version done on another show at about the same time and there are some things that make me cringe now in this one, but they really did try to talk about something important and heavily debated in the culture. So points for that, but I really don't like the show making the woman experimenting unethically on badly injured patients right, because we need to not encourage that. (Worf can give informed consent and volunteer. That other person who died couldn't). Why didn't they contact Worf's brother. Shouldn't he be there for this?
