Which I think I am too tired to really do tonight.
Work is still good but a bit demoralizing right now. My two favorite brokers were gone last week, and everything went well. I handled problems as they arose, found some innovative solutions in the process. I had a bit of extra time and energy and started getting systems set up for the future. Then they came back and everything is taking twice as long. Two management and employee lessons I take from this:
(1) Remember the interest-based negotiating. Don't ask someone to do step 1, 2, and 3. Ask them to take on project X, which involves steps 1-3. Small difference, but it reduces the running back and forth to hand the project over to them. As an employee, don't come back with the first question. See if you can take it further, with other independent steps, or by seeking out potential solutions to bring to the manager.
(2) Think ahead, think things through. This works in so many ways, and definitely my weakness. Unfortunately, being very similar to my two baby brokers, this is their weakness as well. Neither of them is good at finishing a sentence while processing. Most particularly, they will begin to explain a task, then realize that there is a preliminary step, and run off to do that before giving it to me. Take the extra time first, speed things up later.
Yeah, alot of people know these things already. In some way, I already knew them myself. But seeing them in action, and trying to put them into practice? Totally different story.
Battery running out. Both in laptop and self.
