Remodeling and snow!

In the 12 years or so that I have lived in Columbus, I have never seen a blizzard like the one we had this weekend.  It almost reminded me of growing up in Cleveland.  When I measured the drift in our front yard, we had about 18 inches!  I hope that everyone was safe this weekend.  Matt had to come and rescue me from work on Friday, since there was no way I was going to be able to get home on the bus.  A bunch of us just sat around and chatted while we waited for the snow to ease up a bit.

Even though we were snowed in for the weekend, Chris and I shoveled paths to each others apartments so we could hang out without having to waid through too much snow.  Denise made us all a yummy dinner to eat inbetween the two podcasts on Saturday, and I even had the opportunity to play Guitar Hero III a bit.  I suck LOL!

BTW. Happy Birthday Chris!

Things have calmed down a work.  Everyone knows about the changes to my program, as well as the changes to other positions in the store, so I no longer have to keep quiet about it all.  It was hard having to tell my teachers that they were no longer needed.  But one of them managed to secure a position in the store for doing demos, and that will help me out a lot in the long run.

So, with classes officially suspended (except for Wilton), and birthday parties put on hold, I find that I have a large weight of responsibility taken off my shoulders.  I no longer have to worry as much about sales in my department, and instead, I can focus on the new kids programs, which were honestly why I liked the job in the first place.

Most of the last few weeks have been dedicated to helping out in the store as we adjust to the new changes.  Not only are we losing a few people, and completely changing the format of the Receiving Department, Education, and the office specialist, but we also have a interim store manager for the next several months!  I feel bad for Brian, because he is stuck with all of this on his shoulders.  I like our new manager a great deal, and I have been putting in a lot of extra hours to help him out.  It probably helps that he is a complete Geek, and so we can chat about all kinds of things.

This last week I have been remodeling my classroom.  I stripped and painted slat wall.  I stripped and washed bathroom board (which covers the bottom half of my walls in the classroom).   I have dumped more the half of my supply closet, and I still have to reorganize it.  Unfortunately, the snow day on Saturday sets me behind a bit, and come to think of it, I haven't put out the Wilton Class calendar yet.  Oh well.
