As you may remember, on October 19, 2006 I went into cardiac arrest. On November 3, 2006 I had an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) implanted. I had my mom take pictures as I wanted to be able to document what happened to me. Sparrow Hospital is doing a story on me (along with several other people) and a freelance photographer that they use named Dave came out with an ICD and took some pictures. I had to keep a bandage over the incision for a week. The tape was really sticky!
They fed a line into my femoral artery to monitor my blood pressure / heart rate. This is the resulting bruise - it lasted 3 1/2 weeks!
This is the scar that I will live with the rest of my life ... especially since they have to re-do the surgery every 5 years.
