Morning pages = planting notes

Jun 01, 2016 09:27

I have 9 minutes to blog and eat before I have to go get ready for the next client, so the crucible says:

Tell you I planted the vines today.  Butternut squash, zucchini, zephyr summer squash and spaghetti squash are in the corners from starts I got last week-end, and there's a mound of five watermelon seeds in the middle.

I was correct all those years ago when I set up 5x5 beds, figuring one bed was a sufficient workout for an old lady.  I hope not to be an old lady already, but it's still a sufficient amount of work to weed it, work in compost, turn over the soil and plant it all in one morning half hour session.

Also, I planted the shallots in the sheltered bed AND planted the western whiskey barrel planter. All the other starts got watered.

Still to plant: pole beans and edamame, turnips, carrots, swiss chard, and kale, also sauce tomatoes. I still need to purchase more slicing tomatoes.

Four more minutes. My mind turns to things that are making me grumpy.  I won't blog about those. Instead, I can say that I got six tax returns done yesterday, a bumper crop. Gardening and tax prep and working the financial planning practice are nicely balanced this week.
