Writer's Block: Technology’s Impact on My Family

Jul 30, 2009 11:50

I see everyone thinking of the word technology in such a modern sense but really technology is everything. I live in an apartment with baseboard heat- now that is some technology! I do not have to go gather wood for a fire and live in a cabin about the size of my room because of this awesome technology that made all the bricks and things to build my building, and the furnace that melted the metal to make my heating. I mean Justin and I do spend a lot of time on our respective computers but technology like the electric stove, the dishwasher, the laundry machine, these are things that really affect how I spend time with my family. Put dishes in dishwasher- come back to family. Put the pot on the stove or a pan in the oven, pick exactly how hot you want it, keep an eye on it and do other things!  Crazy stuff really, how we have taken all the survival out of our every day lives. No more food gathering or hunting, no more worrying about keeping warm- and now even keeping cool! So really, thanks to everyone who invented everything that makes my life possible, like the cotton gin, and the fabric weaving machine. Whoever invented the machine that makes crystal light- that is a great technology. Hard core. Also, the first person who decided to blow themselves a glass pipe, that is some great technology, and it helps me spend more quality time, even when i am with my family.
