notes: Long ago when I was a kid and the world was new and all, Disneyland had separate tickets for each ride. They sold the tickets in books, and they had values ranging from A-E. A-Tickets were for the 'baby' rides, and E-Tickets were for the 'cool' rides (I.E., the fast rides and the roller coasters).
Quatre supposed he really ought to feel sorry for Trowa, but he was having a difficult time working up any sympathy for his situation. After all, no one else could really be blamed for the way Trowa spoiled his favorite niece, save for Trowa himself. And when Giselle had begged him to play pony with her, especially with all these other kids around - well, he really should have known better.
So it was with amusement, mostly, that he had watched his lover crawl around on hands and knees with up to three children riding on his back for the better part of half an hour.
"Too bad the kids don't take to him or anything," Duo muttered in Quatre's ear. He sounded almost as amused as Quatre felt.
"It's a real shame, isn't it?" Quatre replied with a grin. "Between Giselle and Rahat, he'll be on all fours for the rest of the afternoon."
Duo raised an eyebrow and elected, for once, not to go for the obvious and damn near obligatory dirty joke. "Which one is Rahat, again?"
"The slender one in the blue dress," Quatre said, gesturing towards the little girl in question. "Rashid's daughter."
"Ah," Duo nodded, lifting a can of soda to his lips. "Funny how a guy that big has a daughter that small..."
"Uncle Quatre!" Giselle called from across the yard, still astride Trowa's back. "Did you want to ride Uncle Trowa, too?"
Duo swallowed the soda as quickly as he could and covered his face, because the last thing most little girls want to see is their uncles spewing root beer out of their noses in an outburst of hysterical laughter.
Quatre's lip twitched, and Duo couldn't help but admire his composure. "That's alright, sweetheart - I'll take my turn at riding Uncle Trowa later." He didn't miss the way Trowa's cheeks flared pink for a moment, or the way he smiled and shook his head in that 'Quatre, you pervert' kind of way.
Duo coughed slightly and put the soda can carefully on the table behind them. From the chair on the right side of that table, he heard Wufei say in a low, rich voice "Do we all get a turn at riding Trowa sometime today?"
Heero snorted from the left side of the table. "Not likely - Quatre's not very good about sharing his toys."
"Oh, Trowa's no toy," Quatre countered, turning to glance at his friends over his shoulder with a sultry smile. "More like a roller coaster."
"Do we need an E-Ticket to get on?" Duo put in, a lurid grin on his face.
"Definitely E-Ticket," Quatre nodded. He looked down his nose slightly at Heero and Wufei. "I'm not sure the two of you will meet the height requirement. Duo, however..." He turned to Duo and openly leered. "I know Duo does."
Wufei let out a short laugh. "I'm sure Heero and I will measure up as well."
"I can vouch for that," Duo mumbled.
Heero met Quatre's eyes with a challenging smirk. "So you're saying that you will let us ride Trowa? If we have E-Tickets and meet the height requirement, that is."
"Well, of course," Quatre purred. "After all, roller coasters are always more fun to ride with friends."
At that moment, Trowa approached the table, stooping to retrieve a bottle of water from the ice chest. He opened it up and drank about half of it in a single swig. "Whew," he said, brushing his hair out of his eyes and resting the cool bottle against his forehead. "Being on all fours for that long is hard work."
Quatre grinned conspiratorially at their friends, then grabbed another bottle of water and pressed it into Trowa's chest, making him snatch it with his other hand. "Best drink up then, love - you've got a queue forming."
