I've never had any experience with Country Place, but I lived in two nearby complexes in the past 5 years: Campus West and Campus View. I can't remember a lot about utilities except for that the water bills could be outrageous (over $100).

I preferred living at Campus View because their units are clean, the complex it well maintained, they have a recycling bin, its conveniently located next to campus (10-15 minute walk to Kirkhof) and Brian's Books, they have a large community center (gymnasium, study rooms, gym equipment, etc.), the staff/maintenance crew are on time and work effectively. The only downside (which is subjective) is that they have security on the weekends to ensure that residents are upholding their "no party" contracts- an agreement that all residents need to sign stating that they will not have more that 8 people over to their unit at one time.

As far as price, Campus View is in the same range as all other off-campus housing.

If you don't mind living in Walker/Standale (a 20 minute bus ride from Allendale)- Apple Ridge is the place to live. Super cheap rent and utilities! I lived there for 3 years.
