So the past five days, I have been in a magical, mystical place where it seems time stops and the world is in perpetual motion, with only the intensity of the suns' heat being a variable. I am talking about America's fastest growing city, the home of the rat Pack, Sin City itself - Las Vegas.
Patty and Buckley bought me tickets and covered my room for my Bachelor party this past week. Patty, Buckley, Harv, my boy AJ, my cousin Ryan, and myself all headed out to Vegas on Saturday. We got in that night, checked in, and procedded to make our way to the tables. Now, keep in mind, I was going to be stretching hard, as money hasn't exactly been in high quantity these days in Andy's account. Well, I proceeded to sit down at the Let It Ride table, and on my sixth hand I kinda one big...$1000 dollars big! It was amazing, there were high fives and picture all around, just crazy. From then on, I was able to just relax and enjoy the weekend.
Most of the time, we spent just going from casino to casino. We did stray from some of the various standard Vegas things to do some, what I would call unique stuff:
- We went to a Triple A ball game between the Las Vegas 51's and the Salt Lake Bees. The Bees we winning 6-0 going into the bottom of the 8th. That's when we put on our rally caps...and proceeded to heckle the ever loving crap out of the Bee's pitchers. Two hit batters, eight walks, and two pitchers later, and the 51's were on top 8-6. The Bee's pitchers (who we called Snellville and Bootycheck) shot us enough death stares to kill an army, and that was all the satisfaction we needed.
- We went and saw "X-Men 3". Is this nerdy to do in Vegas? Probably. Was it still an awesome movie? Without a doubt.
- We went to our favorite restaurant in Vegas, the Haufenbraus House. It's a German Beer Hall in the style of Munich. I was called on stage as "the bachelor" to do the chicken dance with some married lady. It was weird...it was a blast.
- Nerdiest moment of the trip? That's right - we went to the Star trek Experience. Buckley, Harv, and Patty called us Tuesday in the morning to inform us they had already bought ticekts to the show. Aj, Ryan, and me just looked at each other, then shrugged our shoulders and went along. Like that stuff always turns out to be, it was very nerdy but still pretty fun. It was like a Universal Studio's type ride, complete with actors who cant catch any other breaks trying desperatly to convince you that they care about defeating the borg. Just pure camp at it's best.
Those are just a few of the highlights. And before you ask, no, no strippers, strip clubs, or boobies in general were involved in this trip. And yes, I realize no one will believe that, and that's ok. We did hit the nights hard though, and never came home before the sun was up. That's what vegas is all about - walking out of a bar to have the rising desert sun starring you right in the face. Good times.
One love to you all. Holla atcha boy.
