The new job is going well. While it's never going to be the dream job (since I apparently keep missing the advert for intergalactic space hero), I appear to be reasonably good at it and everyone is happy with what I'm doing.
There is a certain schadenfreude in the tales of how the place I used to work in has run out of paper. I feel a certain amount of pity for the people who are being taken in by the dream. Maybe they'll get their big payday, if the much-vaunted share options are ever realised. I wonder how much they will have sacrificed in the meantime? Far more likely that they will end up staring ruefully at some worthless paper.
I'm also taking some joy from my new iPhone 6. It may only be a tragic example of our shallow, consumerist society...but it's my tragic example. Plus it has GarageBand on it, so I can occasionally pause to strum a virtual guitar, or go all John Bonham on a picture of a drum kit.
