I miss soccer (football damn it)

I was watching a MLS game on TV the other day and was taking a look at www.mlsnet.com and my old stomping grounds at www.usldiscussions.com and www.a-league.com

Their used to be a time when I played and was involved in writing match reports and supporting the teams when ever possible. Then my beloved Riverhounds moved out of the Pittsburgh area and the rest they say is history.

Or in my case, I simply stopped following the sport for a while. Part of it was that I needed a break, writing is never easy and supporting a third tier team is never easy to begin with in a culture that is traditionally anti-soccer. But it was something I enjoyed doing for a while.

Now that I'm spreading my wings again and looking at moving and different jobs in different states one of the things that really strike me is that I can go anywhere in this country and see a game ( http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/index_E.html) It says something about the strengh of the game and the passion that it generates. I miss that passion.

It may sound funny but I actually did worry at night about if the Hounds would win a "must win" match.

So later today I plan on kicking a ball around a bit and remembering.

soccer, football
