I'll Be Had If I'm In Your Dress Tonight

The plan was to see Tapes n Tapes last night at The Turf Club. The Turf Club seemed like a weird place for a moderately popular band to play but I assumed that they had fallen on hard times and needed to play a show somewhere. On my way to pick up Jeni, I dug them out of my iPod to get reacquainted and remembered that I don't actually like this band. After hanging around Mark's for a while, we set off on like 12 minutes of Hell as I tried to go to Super America to get cash and cigarettes. For once in, like, ever, Sherburne was completely full... and then everyone kept making fun of me. We ended up parking by Mark's place (which is only another block away on Charles but it bruised my pride) and walking over the the bar. We were met with the unexpected and mildly disturbing news that it was sold out--in The Turf Club. Still wanting to get our bar on, we went down to Big V's and paid a $5 cover (instead of the $10 Turf Club cover) and saw two bands that we enjoyed more/as much as we would have enjoyed Tapes n Tapes.
The first one was a sort of funk band featuring a Hamline graduate in the horn section and a bass line that told everyone to dance. Thing is, no one listened. We did, though. It was awkward since our group consisted of four guys and two girls and none of the guys were brave enough to ask any of the women standing around to dance with us. Also, Jeni did her creeper move on me. The second band was all indie-country. Like western shirts and dirty blonde hair with bangs and one of those hip little hats and drinking PBR tallboys. I make fun because, for once, I was not wearing a western shirt and only had one can of PBR. It was less enjoyable but, since I secretly love country music, I still thought it was nice.
In hindsight, I think my difficulty parking was God's way of punishing me for buying cigarettes. Or for hanging out with Jeni.
I'm working on a list of songs for my wedding. So far, I only have The Good Life on it. I was just going to use my driving mix until I remembered that Bring da Ruckus and Claimin' True are on that and I figured that those might not be all that appropriate. Although it is my day... I mean our day. I should probably find a bride first.
