half pain, full instrumental

Mom and Dad went out of town this weekend to see grandma. Sitting on the phone with mom, she tells me that grandma is losing her mind. They sat her down to watch mine and Jamin's wedding slideshow. And every now and then she'd ask, "Who's that pretty girl in the white?" And mom and dad would reply, "Mom, that's Tami." Or when she saw pictures of Iain, she recalled him as the little boy that she used to live down the street from who would cry and cry whenever her and Grandpa left him and his family.

And then I start to wonder, what's going to happen if Angie and I go to visit her? Is she going to know who we are? What if May is too late? What if by May she has gone further down this spiral? If she can't recognize me in my wedding pictures...

What leads people to that? What leads people to just suddenly have alzheimer's disease? Like what's making her want to change all of her pills around, and just live a whole new lifestyle?

But even through all of the madness going on inside of her brain, through her weird recollections, and odd food hording habits, she made the comment while watching the wedding slideshow, "they look like they were made for each other."

Kill the switch.
