So here's what's going on.

Tomorrow I'm going into work, even though I have the day off, to ask for a promotion. Greg, my training supervisor, quit around the end of December, and they still haven't filled his position as training supervisor. So, I was talking to Cody, another supervisor, the other day and he said that I should go talk to Billy our hiring manager. Well, turns out that Billy already had an applicant for the job. BUT! The applicant isn't taking the job, so I figure this is a good opportunity to go out on a limb. Best case scenario I get the job; worst case, I don't, but nothing really changes, other than the fact that management knows that I want a promotion. So really, win/win. So wish me luck or whatever.

In other news, I read No Country for Old Men and it was super good. If you haven't seen the movie, incidentally, see it. And also read the book. It's a really quick read. After I finished that I read the Road, also by Cormac McCarthy. Jesus fuck, it was so good. I pretty much read it in one night. It's a post-apocalyptic novel, and it's really well done and is dark as hell. It's one of those books that like 2 pages into it you know it's gonna end badly. But all he best stories are depressing. Really though, a phenomenal book. Right now I'm reading Blood Meridian, also by the same author, and it's really good, too, but I'm not really far enough into it to say too much about it. One thing that I really like about Mr. McCarthy's writing is that he's really good at writing casual, graphic violence and yet make it believable and not totally absurd.

The only cd I've been wanting to listen to at all is Different Damage. Seriously, that's it. And Everybody Ruins is my new favorite song. That is all, I'm gonna go read. Night night.
