TTGL OST Track Listing

Hahah, thanks. :D I was laughing the whole time I was translating the track listing. Seriously, Iwasaki Taku must have had so much fun naming his music for this show.

According to the website, it's being released February 6. So, in a week and a half! If I don't see some torrents of it up within a couple of days of its release, I'm going to be very disappointed.

Just before I started translating the OST, a friend of mine pinged me for some Japanese help, so I kept talking with him about it while I was working. When I got to Rossiu's theme, I laughed and told him to guess what Rossiu's theme was called. He said, "DEKOSUKE GOES TO NEW YORK i don't know," and when I gave him the right answer, we both cracked up.

In other words, I like that one a lot too. ;)

Now that the OST has been uploaded, I've begun renaming the tracks and came back to this post... I forgot to mention the first time around, but Taku Iwasaki said in one of the radio shows that the XXX is meant to be read as "triple X." It's supposed to stand for anything that the listener considers his/her specialty weapon, just as Simon's is a drill, so it could be an inspirational theme for anyone. I'm guessing you changed it to XXXXX to stand for "drill," but yeah...just thought I'd let you know. ^^;

Ah! I actually didn't know that. That makes a lot of sense! In Japanese, "drill" is written with three characters, so when I thought about it, I thought the XXX was supposed to stand for that word--thus why I changed it to five X's in the translation. If that's the case, though, I'll change it back. Thanks for letting me know! :3

Wouldn't this be more along the lines of "Burn, three siblings?"

Ahahaha. That's actually a reason I should have posted the kanji/kana along with the romaji and translations. You see, "moeru" does mean to burn, but only when it's written with a certain kanji. With an entirely different kanji, "moeru" means "to bud or sprout"--but it's the same kanji as "moe," as in "What exactly is 'moe'?" Although "moe" does not normally (so far as I know) get turned into a verb, I figured Iwasaki did that on purpose, so that's why I translated it that way.
