I just got my confirmation back, saying that I'm qualified for the marathon. So basically all of this month and next month I am going to be training every other day to improve on my cardio and endurance. So on one training day, I'll basically run for 8 to 10 kilometers, increasing the distance as I go. On the other training day, I'll be working on endurance by running up grandstand steps. I got it set up like this:
Jog to the Grandstands
3 sets of 5 reps (up and down = 1 rep) of stair sprints
3 reps of stair jumping
1 rep of stair jumping, 2 steps up, 1 step down, repeat
1 rep of stair jumping, right leg
1 rep of stair jumping, left leg
Jog back
It's rather simple for now, but I'll see if I can increase it further on. I'm really focusing on this portion because what I found last marathon was that it wasn't my volume of oxygen intake affecting me, but the state that my muscles were in. I was having a hard time fighting through the pain and had very sloppy stability in my running stance.
Besides running is concerned, everything else is going along rather great. I'm finally qualified in my job as a Refractory Tec 2 Technician, so it'll give me an increase in pay. I also got my white hardhat so I won't be considered a 'newb' at work. Other than that... wow... things are rather uneventful.
I'm looking to move out though. Can't stand being in Simcoe. Most of my buddies have moved away, attending University or College. Kind of gives me this sense of being alone in this lame 'Hick-ville' of a town. Seems a lot of people I know are moving in places in groups, which does seem kind of logical in terms of paying less rent. I'd find though that I'd probably get nothing done though living with a group of people. Still just a thought though, since there aren't really any opportunities to move out. We will see in the future obviously. In the meantime, my main goal is to apply for police forces around Southern Ontario. The only problem is ... I need to gather the nerves to actually do it...
