I was watching the Oregon State vs USC football game last night. Kate came in sometime during the 4th quarter and asked what was going on. I told her, "The Beavers are beating up the Trojans." She started snickering. "You mean 'tearing' them up?" It took me a moment to figure out what she found so funny and join her in the gutter. Football terminology is so full of sexual innuendo anyway, what with all the "penetration" and "finding the open hole" and "hitting the hole..." adding trojans trying to penetrate the beavers just made it ever so much worse.
Looks like I'm going to be at work most of this weekend trying to finish Chapter 7 before Monday. On the bright side, I think this is going to be an awesome chapter with lots of info that emergency responders have not had access to before now. The info is out there and available, but not gathered in one place. And some of it is pretty hard to find. So, go me. On the down side, I've been spending hours and hours looking at pictures of bombings, many of which are very gruesome.
The Salivary Collective is on strike again. Miserable, miserable.
Fighter practice was fun last night. I think I may try to bring my chivalric armor next week. If I go to Gulf Wars next March, I'll need to build up some endurance and get used to moving in armor again, or I'll just die. Actually, I'll probably die anyway, but maybe it won't be on the first day. I swore that the last Gulf War I went to would be my last because I was truly miserable during and after physically, but that was pre-arthritis medication. I might do better this time around. Still, I think I need to tap somebody to play page for me and keep me out of trouble when I get stupid, because I will get stupid at some point. It's terrible to have the need to arrange for a baby-sitter for oneself, but, sadly, I know I'll need one. All of this is, of course, contingent upon being able to afford to go the Gulf Wars next March, which is certainly not a guarantee at this point.
Well, back to searching through the gruesome pictures. But I needed a short break for my sanity's sake.
