Light and Dark
What lies in the darkness
is truly shrouded by the light.
You can see neither and yet see the entirety of both,
but nothing can be seen without the other.
What lies hidden within,
not only the darkness,
but our very souls?
We search those out
who feel the same as we do,
the longing to stand
on the line between
both light and dark.
Things that are of great value,
always come at a price.
The flow of water when you thirst,
requires the strength to get our
hands dirty and wet.
The love we long for,
will hurt in the end to lose,
whether to circumstance or death himself.
We live knowing what lies both,
we long to hold both in our hands
and yet always seem to choose one over the other.
The fear of being consumed
of our entirety in both darkness and the light,
keeps us honest to who we are.
But what happends when one side begs you forth
to be consumed and battle alone in your own heart?
Do we given and begin our struggle,
or fight tooth and nail to stay the divider of ourselves?
Will the darkness consume me when I look into the abyss
of my own soul as I face physically the one thing
the scares us more then either side,
the end of it all.
Looking into deaths face,
can I say that I have lived one or the other,
can I hold myself up right and righteous
saying that I have walked both paths of light and darkness,
controlling my fear and not sucumbing to them?
Will I be judged as one of the darkness,
or will I be held to the light for those who deserve peace?
All I can do is watch the world around me changing
and do my best to not stray to far from the path between the two,
picking myself up when I stumble to far from the middle.
Watch me now you heavenly demons as I show you,
that this life and all who come to it,
Will not be one of darkness or total light,
for you can not have one with out the other.
