February 14th

Everyone expects that I should have special plans today, especially since its the first Vday I'm spending with him. But I spent the morning having brunch at Rider's Cafe, at the Bukit Timah Saddle Club near NY, with a bunch of our friends, and had the most awesome breakfast (their eggs benedictine and their lovely fluffy pancakes are super shiok!). It left me super hungry for more, and looking forward to going back again! And when I do get to go back, I'll make sure to take a stroll around the horse stables for a while, cause we adjourned a little too quickly for my liking after lunch and I didn't get a chance to do that! Unfortunately its inaccessible without a car, so it'll only be possible if I can borrow the daddy's car.

Then we spent the afternoon at Adrian's place playing Taboo, and wii Rock Band 2 mostly, and time seemed to speed past. We settled dinner with punggol nasi lemak, and by the time we got home it was past 8pm. So goes our first Vday - unromantic, but it was good enough for me... since I concur with Shi, that Vday is over-commercialised and way too costly to celebrate. And why do all couples have to celebrate their love for each other all on the same day, and over-book restaurants for the purpose, when it makes more sense to do it on your anniversary, which in the first place would mean something more to the both of you. So, no flowers, no teddybears or fancy restaurant dates for us.... just another saturday.

Digressing, we seem to be finding quite a few places with really gratifying food these days. Last week it was Seventh Heaven, the dessert place 5 minutes from his place, with sinfully delicious icecreams and a super rich warm chocolate cake. We were pretty much in heaven on first bite, so much so we went back again the next night to try out more flavours. And we were impressed by the service staff too, who were really professional, friendly and just warm in general, who attentively refilled our glasses and reminded us to drink up cause our choice of chocolate icecream and warm chocolate cake was going to prove heaty, and also offering us free samples of their other flavours so we could decide what to have the next time we were back. But I also hope I'm not raving about it so much because for now it seems to be an undiscovered gem, and I'm just proud to be one of the first to discover it. haha

So yes, Seventh Heaven, and then Rider's Cafe this morning, and I feel like if I could have both in a day, i would be a really happy girl.

Goodnight for now... 15th February beckons...

xoxo,
E
