PSA: Big old Microsoft Vulnerabilty...

Aug 25, 2010 10:10

Hey there kids!

In case you don't follow the computer security trades (And gosh, why would you?), Microsoft has announced yet another big old hole in their operating system which would allow malware to come into your computer, take up residence and have little malware babies.

The way it works is if an application is built improperly it will load a shared file's DLL from a remote server. If that remote DLL file is infected? Blammo.

I wouldn't mention this except for the fact that some of the applications mentioned that have this vulnerability are iTunes and uTorrent.

Not that any of you are using torrents. Because that would mean you could be sharing copyrighted media files and software. And that's illegal. And I know no one on my flist would ever do such a thing. Nope. Not at all. Never.

I now return you back to your friendly non-file-sharing f-list and whatever porn you are watching on your other firefox tab.
