Batman, Too

One more irksome aspect about Begins I must add:

Aside from the fact that it's a misguided time waster, Liam's "mentoring" spawns this totally absurd addition to the Batbackstory, which also appears in the international BB trailer:

Liam: What are you seeking?
Brucey: I seek the means to fight injustice.

Huh?!? Last time I checked, Batman never needed to FIND a reason to fight, or (this makes me laugh) verbally articulate it out loud. HIS PARENTS WERE MURDERED IN FRONT OF HIM. GOTHAM IS FULL OF CRIME. That's it. This character doesn't need added, heavy-handed "motivation" to make him make sense. He never needed to wander the world for this. And he's a fucking detective (hence, um, Detective Comics), so he can like, detect all of this for himself.

Plus, he's intelligent, rich, and he has a conscience. He ALREADY has the smarts and the means to discover himself and become Batman. He doesn't require, nor benefit from the aid of the military, a creepy guy he met in Asia, a League of Shadows, his corporation, or any of the previously nonexistent cheeseball premise tweaks. It seems almost impossible to make the Batstory cluttered. But they've done it. So, congrats, guys.

Argh.

sidenote: there are 2 UK teaser trailers, one of which contains a Bruce line about going into the shadows and finding himself or something, which is kind of cool, and I don't remember it from the US flick. Unless I was daydreaming when they said it.
