I know that, at least here, the powers that be are required to offer at least fair market value for the property. They can make three offers, but if you decline all three, then they can demolish anyway, and not pay you a single thin dime for the property. Do they not do such a thing, in France?
Whatever happens, I'll be sure to send good juju, your way! :-)
It would really well and truly benefit you to get a bunch of your neighbors together who are also affected by this, and then go to your county goverment office (or France's equivilent thereof), and see what your rights are, in this matter. Probably nothing can be done to prevent the demolition for the train, but you should be able to be recomped a fair price for your house and property, so you can resettle elsewhere.
I don't see how they can just swoop in and take your residence; what I was trying to explain is that, at least in the US, folx cant just take someone's home in the quest for adding/widening roads, adding tracks, etc. They *must* make up to 3 offers for the property/properties in question (allowing the homeowner to not have to walk away empty handed) if the third offer is not accepted, *then* they can go in and seize the property, without paying the homeowner anything.
So, yeah, at least seek fair compensation for your property!
in here too we have this kind of laws, but since the project has not been finalised, i can't say if they'll want to destroy the house, or worse bypass it, laying the tracks too close to my home. I ve tried to get in touch with the guys in charge of the different versions of the project, without success. I'll try again but the bottom line is that i have to wait for the politicians to decide and get the FINAL drawing before i do anything.
