A rather smallish portion of my job involves writing/maintaining lower-level code in
C. This is for the upkeep of 3 very high-profile underpinnings of the Unix infrastructure. Since they run on every single host (approx 11,000), this code-base doesn't change much. When it does, I've already put weeks of thought into it. I started tweaking code on Friday.
Unfortunately I only get a few minutes at a time between people popping into my office and meetings to actually sit down and
page-in the details of the code and mind-set needed for C (I usually write Bourne shell or Perl scripts). So on quiet nights like this I'm tempted to hack a bit...
But tonight I also left work without quitting the editor I had open, nor writing the more recent changes I made in an effort to encourage me to relax a bit. Not... sure... *twitch* if that was such a good idea. *twitch*
