Viva Las Vampires by Jennifer Ashley, Bring Out Your Dead by Katie Macalister and Lucy and the Crypt Cassanova.

From Amazondotcom" "Viva Las Vampires," by Jennifer Ashley, features a gorgeous, sun-bronzed Viking vampire who owns a vampire-themed hotel and casino in Las Vegas and sees his one true love striding through the lobby hot to interview him for her new book on vampire culture. In this world, there are warm vamps who are immortal and cold vamps who are undead. Katie MacAlister's "Bring Out Your Dead" is about Ysabelle, a counselor to newly made zombies, who meets Sebastian, a vampire who falls madly in love with her and must protect her from a demon. In Minda Webber's "Lucy and the Crypt Casanova," the host of a cheesy talk show who frequently gets into trouble because of her paranormal guests finds that the police detective investigating the same incubus case as she is the long-lost vampire love of her life."

Where to begin... Ashley's Viva Las Vampires, was a an ok read, although she switches her villian mid stream, from a cold ruthless advesary who will do what ever it takes to be the only master Vampire in Las Vegas, to a man of honor who ends up helping our heroes. Also I had some problems with the whole blood slave/minion idea, if it's true love what happens when the human blood slave dies?

Minda Webbers Story I am afraid I could not get through. Although, thankfully it was not full paragraphs of song lyrics transcribed into story narration, it was chock full of unfunny puns. Even that would be tolerable but I just can not get into this authors writing style. Frankly I have read fanfiction that is 100x better. I just couldn't get into either the characters or the story.

That leaves Macalister's Bring Out Your Dead. Can we say "Jump the shark"? Well almost. I have to say that I love Macalisters "Dark Ones" series, but I think the introduction of too many otherworldly beings is dragging the storyline down. Could be that she tries to insert too many diverse beings into one story, I felt that a little bit in "Sex, Lies, and Vampires" but more so in this story. Could be because it was a short story vs a full novel. I will say Sally's fractured french was more than a little annoying, as was Williams constant badgering to eat body parts. Zombies are definitely best in small doses, and not so much in a short story. I love Katie Macalister's books and will look forward to "Last of the Red Hot Vampires" due out in April 07.

On the whole I would recomend not buying this book, if you really have to read it get it from the Library or used book store. A so-so read and definitely not worth the $6.99 price tag.
