Hey everyone,

My first GDB home visit is in less than a week, and I'm both nervous and a tiny bit scared.. So I have some questions for you all, who have gone through this..

1. I can't say as glasses don't help me one way or another, but I would suspect it would help for you to be as reliant on the cane as possible, since when they issue you a guide, if you are relying on your vision, they will (and I did see it happen), put you in a blindfold until you know to trust the dog ( ... )

It's been about three years since I interviewed for GDB, but I don't imagine much has changed... I did not really have a route planned... I knew my neighborhood well enough that I could have pretty much gone where ever... I wore shorts and a T-shirt. Thhe instructor will be watching your O and M skills, and during the Juno walk he or she will be looking at how fast you walk and how much pull you can take. This will help when it's time to match you with a dog. As for questions, just think of any thing you want to know about the program. Good luck!

Actually the interview process *HAS* changed, it is more extensive and there is way more paperwork for the interviewer to go through, and there is going to be tons of questions related to residual vision included. I am curious who the interviewer is since it seemsthat it is different with different instructors in what types of routes... Most don't even get to the point of 8 blocks at all! You can dress to whatever is most comfortable for you walking wise ( ... )
