Garden Leave (aka decorating)

Well, time has slowly been moving on since I'm no longer tied to a job.

Been trying to get the downstairs bog finished off. All the wood is stripped of 30 years of council decorators efforts (read as lots of sags, lumps and bumps), apart from the bit behind the door which needs to come off, but that is a job for tomorrow.

I've done a rough sand, and filled where necessary. Just needs to go off and that can be levelled and primed.

The walls have been "smoothed over". They are half sanded, but it makes your arms ache like buggery. Cant do it with the sheet sander, it just takes too much off.

The only thing I might need to do is get another door. I started to flat the sags off and it tore the paint off. Only thing to do is strip it but its a horrible job, and 2ndly someone decided to put some "vent holes" in the top of it. That would be fine but they are all over the place and none are in a straight line. Really wants covering up. Perhaps have a trip to B&Q as I have got to go past and see what size doors they have. Problem with this one is that its about 2'6" wide.

In other news, as of the 15th I am on my notice. They dont have a problem with me getting another job and will waive my existing contract, and this wont affect my redundancy payoff, which I should get at the end of the month. Sadly, most of it will be going to clear off the plastic.

Nice thing with garden leave is that its tax free :)

I have an interview on Wednesday morning for something I applied for a couple of weeks ago. Looks promising, and the company appears to make all the right ribes.

Think its time to get some dinner. Could do with a nice cold beer to wash the paint/filler dust down, but that'll have to wait until later.
