Every so often I get a couple of random thoughts or images that I want to write down for future use in books or poems. If I didn't, they'd be out of my mind within the hour. I usually write them down in LJ and make them private, if only because they don't amount to anything but quibbles. For once though, I thought I might share. Here's some stuff I quickly jotted down as I fumbled in from the cold:
Walking home from school, I saw two shadows; the light posts from across the street cast a long silhouette while the posts to my immediate left created a deep image over my shoulder. It was as if a figure was haunting my every footsteps, ready to pounce. If only. I walked on in silence as I followed myself home.
Yellow is the color they assign us because only dogs are color blind. If you didn't know better, you'd think people came in shades of pencil shavings. But only two colors really ever mattered: black and white. That's how history is written. You never see yellow on a white sheet of paper. There'd be nothing to see. At least that's what it's like in America. Maybe they print in yellow in China, I don't know. But I've never seen a yellow person. Aint that curious? I suppose they felt they had to give us something, as if we wouldn't know who we were without being told. Then again, when was the last time you saw someone painted black? Maybe. I guess it's not far from the truth. The fact is, even dogs can see yellow, though I doubt they think much of it.
