I get home to the news of two missing persons (1 funny, 1 just strange):
1. My dad was supposed to pick up someone from the airport for work. This person was coming from another country, does not have a cell phone, and dad didn't know what he looks like. The folks who arranged the trip couldn't tell my dad what airline or flight # the person was coming in on, only to be at the airport for x o'clock. Dad gets there and deduces what flight this person was on and waits while everyone else disembarks but no person. Dad goes down to baggage claim, but no person. Dad walks around the airport for an hour, but no person. Dad calls everyone that works with this person - no answer (cuz it's like 3 am over thar). Dad goes to his company truck and rides around looking for the person but still no dice. He goes to the hotel to see if this person took a cab and checked in but no person. Dad left a note at the front desk saying to call him as soon as he checks in and call dad's cell.
We STILL don't know if this person got to where he was supposed to but dad suspects this person missed a connecting flight somewhere down the line.
(NOTE: The person DID have dad's cell phone # but has not called. Dad will call again when it's morning over thar.)
2. My BROTHER (king of boating mishaps) got stuck in the marsh. And when I say stuck, I mean his boat wasn't movin' AT ALL. In fact, it partially capsized and filled up with mud to the knee. Matt was stuck out there in pitch night for over two hours. His friend had to leave work to go help him out but Matt had already maneuvered himself out (by getting out and PUSHING the boat) and his friend waited for him at the launch.
When he got home, . . . I wish I had a picture to post! (he didn't allow pictures, that's how bad it was), he was COVERED from head to toe with muck, THICK muck. His boat is still full of it too. It's not even recognizable.
I could NOT STOP LAUGHING (if you think I'm cruel, just imagine, this is the guy who falls in the bayou/Gulf on a near scheduled basis, has forgotten to put the plug in and sunk his boat, has hit trees, etc. etc. etc.). After having to strip outside, he is now clean and happy to be out of the elements. He did hurt his arm (pushing and pulling the boat manually), and he scraped up and bruised his knee pretty bad from being thrown with the propeller got caught in the muck.
Unfortunately, this incident has put him off from hunting tomorrow. I was supposed to go with him so . . . *sigh* Another opportunity lost.
Simply put this evening has been weird.
And all while I took a break from drawing girl scout posters . . .
