This morning I woke up at 9:30 and around 10 we got a call from my aunt Moonie to let us know that my second cousin (the child of my dad's niece) who is . . . was 25 . . . maybe 26, had been rushed to emergency room this morning and the doctors didn't think she would last the day.
My mom and dad left for Baton Rouge to support my aunt Yvonne (her grand-mother) and the rest of the family who had gathered there.
I chose to stay home. I know myself enough, I just cannot deal with that type of thing. I couldn't with my grand-parents. I'm just not strong enough.
My mom just called, about ten minutes ago to let me know that Miranda passed away within this past hour.
I only met her once (at Maw-Maw Hilda's funeral) but I'm crying like I did when my grandparents died.
She was so beautiful and smart. The world is losing a truly valuable person, and we still don't know what happened. We just know that her stomach was swollen and she was bleeding out of every hole in her body.
Please, I'm begging everyone out there to pray for her and her family. Dying is horrible enough without going out in such a way. I just hope she wasn't in any pain.
Rest In Peace
Miranda

EDIT: They will be doing an autopsy to determine cause of death. And apparently we were misinformed. She was put in the hospital earlier this week because she had a culture done and the doc ordered her to go to the hospital once the results were in, but she was doing fine yesterday, was supposed to be getting out today. Then her abdomen distended, and her liver function became nonexistent, she was bleeding internally (and the blood was seeping), as her body shut down and ultimately died.
