Not the S-K Big News but it bears mentioning -- Online scrapbook (*snort* I just typed "crapbook" and I had to fight myself not to leave it XD) has 81 pages. Section 1 is COMPLETELY SCANNED . . . save one page that has mysteriously disappeared *strikes Sherlock thinking pose* hhhmmmmm. It was 127 pages in all ;_; I'm gonna have to buy storage space - I can just SEE it. (For the record, there are six sections in the first scrapbook, eight in the second . . . my scrapbooks are 4" binders and two are completely full Y_Y - just starting the third one).
ANYWHOOO - Work is KILLING my sad @$$.
So, I work in the oilfield and as my father always tells me - the oilfield never stops. Thing is, I work in billing, so my job is as follows -- Service Coordinators from the umpteen departments of Halliburton bring Sales Orders. Sales Orders are logged to keep track of what is received from what department. Billers (that would be me and three other lovely ladies) take Sales Orders. Biller goes through SOs one by one, page by page (one SO can have a hundred pages) and check for 1. errors in dollar amounts, 2. appropriate materials (it's the oilfield, we have to cross t's and dot i's like you would not believe - everything has to have hard proof), 3. appropriate authorizations, 4. attention to customer requirements (these are standards each individual customer - like Shell, BP, whatever - sets for themselves; if something is left out or incorrect - even slightly - they WILL refuse to pay), 5. and uploaded documents if needed. Then we have to verify everything that's in the system, note any and all errors that the person who entered the SO made, email the appropriate people if information doesn't match or is missing. Then the biller invoices the SO.
If anything was wrong with it and we didn't catch it (and Halliburton uses the SAP system which means EVERYTHING is accountable) the customer (and other assorted individuals) will let us know. For instance, I had invoiced something on the last day of the month and it came back the first week of December and then I had to chase down the right information -- it took me over four hours to fix that one.
So, anyway, that's the process. Well, in the oilfield, end of the month is bad enough (people want to get all the revenue they can in since everything is very time sensitive), but it is also END OF THE YEAR! Yesterday, I was just breathing a sigh of relief when I got my stack down to 30 when - at 4:45 - one of the coordinators brought in over 150 T_T.
I did not stop today. Between getting those stacks taken care of then the stuff that came in today, I didn't get to look up from my computer unless I had to take a whiz or go to lunch. And I managed to pick out the thickest SOs >-< And then I had missing information on the last 4 I checked through which means they are currently sitting on my desk waiting for Mr. Buba to get back to me with the info I need.
Tomorrow promises to be hell as it is the last day of the month we'll be working and everything MUST BE IN and invoiced before we leave.
In addition, my grandmother is gonna be visiting my apartment for the first time tomorrow night (my parents are coming up since I'm not going home this weekend - I have to wrap up all my 2006 paperwork from my files and what not).
And speaking of the apartment . . . and the S-K Big News (which won't be so big to some):
I'm definitely gonna start trying in 2007. And if you've been a frequent visitor to my lj and don't what I mean by that, I'll make it more clear by saying trying to get pregnant.
May will be my first insemination month. I figure that will be enough time for me to get all the necessary paperwork (registrations, doctor release forms, home release forms, long donor profiles, etc.) in order, have a good background of charts (which - is it just me - or is it a fucking QUEST to find a thermometer?), and build a good rapport with my new gynecologist.
AS for the apartment (as I mentioned), in the even that I DO become pregnant, I don't think it's a wise thing for me to climbing stairs all the time (can we say, "Sandy is accident prone"?). I've already fallen down half a flight a few months ago, and I had a close call this morning. AND I'll need more room. So. . . . what are my alternatives? Well, I have to give a termination notice by February if I don't want my lease to auto renew at the 6 month mark, so I'm gonna start browsing the paper (which I don't get XD) and calling around. I also had an offer from Mr. Glynn (who works at Halliburton and knows my parents as I mentioned in a previous entry) when I first got to Lafayette. He has a duplex that he rents out for a substantial amount less than what I'm paying for the apartment I'm currently in, and he takes care of the utilities . . . which I pay separately from rent right now. Problem is it's about 20 miles away and Lafayette traffic is . . . well, it's HELL. But I'm not letting a measily thing like that deter me. I like options.
Returning to the whole insemination process: I think this will be the only time I mention it for some time, because I don't want to jinx myself. The next time you hear about this is if one of two things happen, 1. I give up or 2. I find myself staring at a positive test strip *snicker*
AAAAANNNNNDDDD As it happens, I'm probably going to be visiting
emaniahilel again in April (my dad decided to send me away as an Easter gift XD) so it all works out ^_~
*ahem*
Ok, so like, I'm thinking I need to get to work scanning Section 2 XD
