Another year older…
Although my bday is 9 days away I've gone ahead and started celebrating. I got a surprise package this week containing an Anova Precision Cooking immersion circulator. I've always toyed with the idea of buying an immersion circulator to start trying my hand at sous vide in the kitchen, now the trigger has been pulled thanks to my friend Cindy! I've got a few dishes on my mind!
This weekend I'm attending the KaaBoo Del Mar festival here in SoCal. It's like San Francisco's Outside Lands. I missed most of yesterday because I couldn't leave work early but I got there in time to see Hall & Oates, Gavin Degraw and Jimmy Buffet. A thing about SoCal audiences, it's like a big frat party where people are chatting with each other instead of enjoying the performance and music. Weird, but whatevs.
It was my first time seeing Jimmy Buffet and although I am not particularly a fan of his music I really enjoyed his performance. The guy is loving and living life!
Today I go back and hang out the Bask lounge, floating around in the pool until the bands I want to see are on stage. I ran into some friends last night and there will be a lot more their today. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. I like experiencing these kinds of things alone. Once other people get in the mix I feel like I've been taken hostage.
I'm super duper looking forward to Sunday's show, which is headlined by Jack Johnson! I wish I could bring my ukulele to play along (horribly).
Bday shenanigans will start again on Thursday when the Giants are in town to play the Padres through the weekend. Friday night I gave dinner with friends at Juniper & Ivy then I head to the game where I have acquired 14 seats for me and my friends to enjoy the game. Saturday starts off with getting my yum cha on! I've reserved a table for 12 at what might be the only dim sum spot in San Diego and treating my friends to the joys of chicken feet and siu mai!
On my actual bday, Monday the 26th, I fly to San Francisco and will have more dumpling goodness at a yet to be determined location with friends. I'll hang out for a couple days before coming back to San Diego to prepare for a business trip to Orlando.
I can't believe I'm 41 years old…
