Oh fandom, teehee.

Just some thoughts. I actually never thought about that before, through I read through much of canon before I saw any media of it, the first of which was The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970)...and Sir Robert Stephens was how I think Holmes would have looked like ducks from the glares of Jeremy Brett fans. Some of the illustrations helped, probably, but I've always thought of Holmes as a brunet harbouring a pallor from his habits but not out of shape, with very dark (brown?) eyes...and depending on the situation, shiny black almost like an insect's, or just dark and romantic...see Sir Robert Stephens... < / fangirl >
.....
Damn, I doubt we'll would ever get to find out now. Barring the unlikely event that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle actually had something of a character stats sort tucked away somewhere, and had not destroyed it when he had grown to almost hate his character...
Thank goodness that for the Naruto, all we have to do is wait a few weeks eh? XD
ETA: Just read the comments, dude, apparently there was a canon reference to his eyes after all, "The Three Garridebs", and it's grey. o_0
'Holmes had spent several days in bed, as was his habit from time to time, but he emerged that morning with a long foolscap document in his hand and a twinkle of amusement in his austere grey eyes'
I remeber reading "austere grey eyes" quite often but I've always remembered it as fanon, as there have been quite a few Sherlock Holmes fanfiction, published and online!
In spite of the fact that the canon eye colour was released
at least 100 years ago, really, could we still form all sorts of little groups...同盟...alliance/support for Sherlock Holmes with Dark Eyes...and we might even need a Brunet Sherlock Holmes Alliance, in the light of the n00bs rushing in with the cartoon known as Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd...a blond Sherlock Holmes with blue eyes! OMG!
Speaking of alliance/support groups for a specific take on a character, those of you who follow Japanese art sites would notice that they have tons of those. Fans over there following the manga as it comes up make their own art first with their own colourings, and get attached to it. Apparently Blond!Kabuto was popular before the anime (or some other official stuff) came out, and Kisame has white hair! I can't see Kabuto as a blond, but I've always seen Kisame with white hair until recently.
Teehee, Deidara (

銀髪デイダラ同盟 for those who like their Deidara with silver hair!
