Had a weird dream last night that I was producing Kelly Clarkson. I was helping her rerecord her "My December" album. I was in the process of getting her to redo he vocals for the "Never Again" single. I told her that we're going to amp up the guitar crunch, so the best effect would be for her to sing the way she normal does, without any grit ( Read more... )

Hey Geoff. Check out this live version of Dylan and George Harrison playing If Not for You at a soundcheck. Pretty cool. And very Wilburys! Personally, I think a Dylan/Harrison album would have been a wonderful thing....they didn't need all the other Wilburys. Well, maybe Roy....singing with Roy isn't such a bad thing.

Very cool version! George and Bob are obviously having a lot of fun here. Love the part when the both accidentally sing the melody and George laughs; you can really see the friendship shine through. Didn't they come close to doing an album together? I heard that they cut a bunch of songs just before the "New Morning" sessions, one being the slower version of this song that was on "Bootleg Series 1-3".

I don't think they were ever going to do an album together, although they did record together for 2 days sometime around the New Morning sessions. I think they were mostly just having fun in the studio though....most of the songs they did were covers.

I re-investigated my Bootleg Series liner notes and yes, looks like they were just messin' about. Although, that version of "If Not For You" is pretty cool. I like George's slide bit; always his specialty. I do prefer the album version though. I love how it just busts out of the gate, and how it always seems to be on the verge of speeding up out of control. Good, off-the-cuff fun. I love love LOVE the "New Morning" album. I was so lucky to hear an awesome version of the title track the second time I saw him. Did I tell you that I saw him a third time last October? We we the first crowd to ever hear anything from "Modern Times" live.

Well, I appreciate the tag, but unfortunately I don't really write in my livejournal anymore. I don't really like putting too many personal things on the internet, and anything goofy I might write just would be a waste of time. In fact, I might save the journal and get rid of it completely...not sure yet though.

How have YOU been though?
