Praise God and What a day.

Today has been a long and very busy day.

I picked Brigit up from her house this morning at 8:15 to take her out to breakfast and then stop by Westside High and Hutchings to check up on everything and make sure her transfer from Westside to Hutchings would go through smoothly. As I was making the left turn onto Napier from Brookdale, my car was rear-ended by a brown Chevy Tahoe. :( I felt part of the force of the collision in my back, but as far as I can tell, I was not injured. (I am experiencing absolutely no pain.)Brigit wasn't injured either. I called James, and then called 911. While I was on the phone with 911, the guy that hit me sent the pedestrian witnesses away. In hindsight, I think he did that so his "story" would have a greater impact with the cop. The "gentleman" was definitely following too closely. My car has stalled at other intersections, and people were following closely, but not too closely and I have never been hit.

Anyway, while I was on the phone with 911, we decided to pull off the road into the Hype Hair Beauty Salon parking lot to wait for the cop to arrive. About 15 minutes after the call, a motorcycle cop showed up. I told him my side of the story and was told that I could leave. As I was preparing to leave, the "gentleman" told his story. He told the cop that I rolled back into his vehicle. Click here to see the post-accident pictures of my car. When the cop heard this, he quickly went to where the red plastic chips from my car were still lying in the road and checked for tire skid marks and other possible evidence to support either story. Finding none, he wrote up the report without declaring fault to either party. The SUV showed absolutely no damage to its front bumper. However, after the accident I couldn't unlock/open my trunk. Well, for three hours I couldn't open it.

After the cop told me that, he told me I was free to leave. Needless to say, I was very annoyed, and almost lost my temper on the cop. One thing is for certain, God was certainly in control of my temper this morning. The last time I was rear-ended (I was in the Tempo), I went completely nuts and was yelling and screaming at the male law student who ran into the back of my car. I didn't cuss anyone out or lose my temper and for the most part remained a calm, rational being.

Needless to say, I was very nervous pulling out of the parking lot and back into traffic. It didn't help that I had a lot of errands all over town to complete. I was virtually a nervous wreck after leaving the Beauty Salon's parking lot, but God kept me cool and protected me from being harmed by any other drivers or myself while driving around the rest of the day. As we were on our way, Brigit and I decided that given the stressful way the morning had started, we would have a somewhat leisurely breakfast instead of the quick breakfast I had originally planned on having. We stopped at Cracker Barrel and each had pancakes. I am now a HUGE fan of the Cracker Barrel blueberry pancakes. They serve the pancakes with blueberry syrup that has real blueberries in it. Oh my, my mouth is watering just remembering the flavors. :) After breakfast we stopped by Westside and found out that the person Brigit needs to see is out of the office this week, but will be back on Monday.

We then left Westside to go to Trooper's Collision Center to see if they could open my trunk so I could get the book that I was planning on returning to Hutchings out of the trunk. They were kind enough to remove the part of the car that was blocking access to the lock cylinder and now I can unlock/open and close my trunk at will again. :) They didn't even charge for that service. Of course, they will be repairing the car, so they knew they would be seeing it again.

We then went to Hutchings to return my books and check on Brigit's enrollment status. It's looking like her paperwork might have been misplaced at the school after she turned it in a few weeks ago. Fortunately, it's nearly 3 weeks untill school starts, so time is on her side.

On a happier note, my new glasses arrived today and I can see well again. :) These glasses are even smaller than my old ones, and I barely notice them on my face. This is a good thing because I am supposed to where these glasses all day, whereas the old glasses I was only supposed to wear while reading or doing computer work.

One thing is for certain, I am definitely praising and thanking God for being merciful to me and Brigit today. Things could have ended up being much worse than how things actually occurred.
