I "finished" a story for the Liberty Hall End of Year Challenge but did not submit it. I rushed it, and it had a lot of problems, and I decided not to put it out there. It's primarily a professionalism thing, even among friends in a challenge, but also because Flash Fiction Online would have been considering it. The story may see the light of day some time.
I've finished several stories of late. One is over at Flash Fiction Online ("In the Leading Edge of Shadow"), and another is about to go to Writers of the Future before the January 1 deadline. I've been perusing the WOTF forums and blogs, looking at the "things that knock you out on the first page" lists. I *think* I've got that kind of stuff taken care of. I'd like to make it at least to Honorable Mention, or of course, farther this time. The first time I subbed there I got one of the immediate rejects, only to realize later that I had broken two or three of the immediate no-no's on my first page.
So, we'll see.
Several stories in the pot for either writing or cleanup. At some point, I need to start that novel.
Have a great holidays and new year!
