Do labels matter?
Apparently, the public is more likely to support repealing DADT if they're asked about gays and lesbians, rather than homosexuals.
It seems strange, but maybe it's one reason homophobes use homosexual or put gay in scare quotes. It's odd that the general public would make a distinction, but apparently some do.
