Read All About It: 'The Advocate' publishes piece by Out Bi Writer

Nov 15, 2008 16:54

The Advocate (of all places! will wonders never cease?) has published "Revolution No. 8" a piece about the ongoing struggle for equality by Our Community's Own Faith Cheltenham a VERY "out and proud" Black, Bi-identified LGBT blogger, activist, poet as well as an all around wicked cool person.

She is (among many other things) a member of BiNet USA, The Black Revolutionary Committee, Bi Writers and Bialogue where she charges into battles using her words and wits against the evil forces of biphobia and bisexual erasure.

I've been waving a sign on street corners since H8 passed: "Black Queers." Responses have varied -- from honks of support to looks of disapproval from both blacks and whites. A black woman came up to me at a rally and asked me if I didn't think the sign was offensive to black people. I said, "It's who I am, and people should know."
