Venting about super gross apartment thing

Mar 11, 2013 17:58

My sinks are throwing up, for lack of a better way to describe it. When people in the apartments near mine on the same side of the hallway run their water, my drains stop draining. When the people in the apartment above mine drain off their dirty dishwater too fast, it gets backed up in the pipes and comes bubbling up in my kitchen drain. It happened yesterday, and it is currently happening for the second time today. It has happened before, when I was gone from the apartment, and although the water drained back down before I got home, it left behind a nasty smell and a coating of food/ingredients I don't eat on the bottom of my kitchen sink. The first time it happened today, I had dishes in my sink to be washed, and somebody else's old food got on them. It is super-ultra-mega-gross, and I went out and bought a large pot for the purpose of soaking the dishes in boiling water to kill other people's germs and two dish pans so I can wash my dishes in the shower until this is cleared up.

I was planning to get more work done on my writing assignments today than I actually did, and I haven't got around to the recreational writing or most of the reading I'd hoped to do because I've been dealing with this nasty sink thing I hate so much.
