Um.  So.  I kind of fell off the earth, posting-wise.  This is, sadly, easily explained ( TL;DR I was pretty sick for a while but I'm getting better now. )

family, health, i got nothing

It really sounds like it's been rough for you. I'm not that far away. I can do things for you or bring you things you need. Feel free to give me a call anytime.

{{{hugs}}} Thank you so much. I have the best damn friends. :wry:: Apparently, Pat, I got myko plasma (spelling?), possibly in an ear infection? And it went to that lovely pneumonia mess. I got... um, 6 days of IV antibiotics, broad spectrum, and 10 days of azithromycin, which I just finished this afternoon. It's been a *bitch*.

Do you have any advice for how to quit coughing? I've still got sinus drip and my poor throat now spasms for anything. I do not want a fresh new infection in there, damn it. Best I've come up with is gargling with salt water, but one has to quit bloody *coughing* to do that....

Maybe ask your doctor about the coughing. There are some heavy duty cough syrups out there.

I don't care for them, they've always given me bad side effects, or really suppressed my breathing. (I have asthma already, I don't need more trouble breathing.)

But my sis takes a cough syrup containing hydrocodone before bedtime. She loves it. She's always had allergies, and it helps keep her from coughing herself awake. With it, she gets a full night's sleep.

Yeah, I've got one with codeine that works? But it makes me hyper for an hour. So, right now I'm just using the over the counter stuff.

Thank you!

I'm sure you've already googled "coughing" and tried everything. Unfortunately, it's a reaction to infection, inflammation and your body trying to expel something. But that doesn't help your aching ribs or throat. Does your doctor have any ideas? Has he given you something for cough specifically?

If it's mycoplasma it affects the mucosa (lining) of your respiratory tract. Which means your body is going to respond by coughing since the lining is infected.

It is a pain in the ass. And it's not susceptible to many antibiotics.

Yeah, I ended up on a long duration of meds for it and it's gone. Okay, it was in the lining, huh? That explains a few things. And yeah, I'm trying various things, both the OTC and the prescription cough syrup my doc gave me. I just figured it was worth asking, thanks!
