(I'm kinda glad Rafferty changes his ways, as he has an adorable name. It makes me think of a Border Terrier, all scruffy and grumbly but not really BAD)
Well, Rafferty when he shows up in the Raven in... gods, whichever Linewar fic that is (Intermezzo at the end, I think), is not a terribly nice person, but he's not a horrible one, either. He made it through ten years with Enrique Alba, after getting through the local fosterage system. The miracle is that he *isn't* a raving lunatic. A few years with Kastagir (okay, eight, maybe ten) and he's actually a fairly nice guy. And he likes kids, and kids like him. Definitely not all bad.
That was sorta the vibe I got off him. Definitely not NICE, but not irredeemably bad, and definitely not EVIL in the way that Enrique and Owain and Johannes were.
Yeah. And honestly, he wasn't about to argue with them about checking out the Raven. They scared the hell out of him, and with reason. ::wry:: And let's face it, why would he know the difference between a weak immortal and a pre-immortal? Enrique struck me as a very rote lesson type teacher, you know?
