Writing meme, day 26 -- research
26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
I think my favorite is still the one where I needed to know if muffins predated the American revolution. The answer, by the way, seems to be that muffins date back to at least the 10th century CE, and possibly the 9th... Although I very much doubt that the muffins of that day are what we're used to now. I think they were closer to what Americans call English muffins.
And now I can't remember what story needed that bit of detail, although it's applicable to the Southern Comfort series. But it had something to do with Connor, Kastagir, a bar brawl, and Matthew McCormick *not* arresting them... Oh! That's when it was. The 5 times Matthew and Connor didn't meet that I wrote for
killabeez !
What about the rest of you? Odd research is half the fun of writing, I think.
