And it's official:
DADT will be repealed in 60 days. I'm a little surprised by just how pleased I am about this.
I wish Merewyn's dad was alive to roll his eyes about 'Women make good sergeants, gays do just fine in the military too, and what idiot thought they weren't there and doing a good job already?" He was a senior master sergeant in the Air Force, joined it during WWII when it was the Army Air Corps and volunteered for a tour in 'Nam when he was 52 to get that last pay grade increase and because he thought it was too nasty a war to be throwing green kids into. He also got into an argument with at least one idiot serving on a promotion board with him who thought women had no business trying to be Air Force non-coms. One day soon, I'm going to write him into an SG fic. He'll be the lanky redhead helping Siler fix things and trading snarky comments. (He used to listen to stories about our D&D campaigns and offer advice and cackle when the DMs had gotten it right and used that to kick our butts for being dumb.)
