Okay, now I do have an SGA question or two
I've always had the impression that the SGC was predominantly (entirely, at first?) Air Force. What in the world was a Marine colonel doing as head of the military force for the Atlantis expedition? I mean, yeah, all volunteer group, multiple country, probably multiple-forces*, but I'm still confused.
Also, I've watched Rising; I'm still at the very start of S. 1. But do we have any other officers than Col. Sumner, Maj. Sheppard, and Lt. Ford? Granted, my understanding of military is strongly historical as opposed to modern, but shouldn't Sumner have headed up a pyramid? At least two junior officers (majors/captains) with a lieutenant or two apiece under them?
Help me, Obi-friends list -- I'm very confused.

* If I were going to Atlantis, even not knowing if it really was an island, I'd want some Coast Guard or Navy men in the mix.
