The horse stole the movie.

No. Really.

I had good beer (and got tipsy; I'm a very cheap drunk, I'm afraid) and a lovely turkey sandwich, and went to watch The Legends of Zorro with Merewyn (yes, she of the frequent beta question, "Is there going to be more sex?") and alysswolf. We had a lovely time. We giggled and cracked quiet comments to each other (and Merewyn told off the jackass who'd left their phone's ringer on), but really... it was fun. A fight where both sides had a point, and lovely eye candy, and a villain so insane he was headed back 'round to sanity, and damn it, one word change would have saved the historical accuracy (although that's a whole 'nother rant -- I'll do my 'when the South started seceding' rant another day), and gorgeous fighting. Bob Anderson, o'course. When that man dies, I'm going to have to hold a wake for him, and then one for the film industry, and then one for us in the audiences....

I'm going to have to rewatch this film when it comes out on DVD to see how many references to other movies I can catch. Dear God. It was Cat Ballou all over again. ::grinning:: And well, there's the reference to the Comte de le Fere, and the fun with the slingshot, and oh, the priest. The priest is great. I can so easily see him chatting with Darius about the difficulty of understanding one's parishioners if one's not in a position to understand their problems, and clinking glasses as they sin thoroughly, to do their jobs the better....

Really, though. W. C. Fields was right. Never act in a movie with small children and animals.

movies, easily amused
