Gacked from flambeau (including her final disclaimer), to be answered Sunday or Monday, when I get home:

If there is any question you would like to ask me about any one of my fics, then go ahead! What I meant by a particular line, why I chose that characterisation, what I was listening to as I wrote, what crack I was taking and where you can get some ( Read more... )

Well, actually, I have a buttload of questions but if I have to pick just one I'll have to ask why, in the Line War series, you had Aidan decide that Duncan needed more training. An occasional smack upside the head and a regular sparring partner, sure, but training?

Well, Aidan thinks he needs polishing, which isn't as drastic. ::shrug:: He can be a little dense about some things that could get him killed and it worries her. Like underestimating smaller opponents, say. (He knows better, after Mei-ling and some of the others, but he does canonically do it.) He doesn't just need a sparring partner -- he needs someone to point out the holes in his logic.

Oh. ::snort:: When I figured out what I was going to have to do to Connor in Sirocco, *he* was the one telling *me* it would all be fine and not to worry so much. So, er, no, not exactly.

Out of curiosity, where did you learn of capoeira? I mean, obviously once you had a starting point, research can tell you a lot, but most people I know, even those involved in martial arts, haven't the faintest idea what I'm talking about if I mention it. So yeah, did you start from the religion aspect, or were you somehow exposed to what tends to be one of the more overlooked martial arts? *g*

::lol:: Well, it's like this.... I'm married to a double-black belt. (Black belt in Golden Talon kung fu, second degree black belt in kempo karate, and has studied Gods know how many styles over the last twenty years.) He likes martial arts movies, and one of the ones he has taped is Only The Strong, which has Mark Decascos as a capoeira fighter teaching a bunch of inner city students martial arts. It just kinda went from there.

Does that help?

Hee! Fantastic. That's one the horrible movies I love to hate, and yet have seen a good half a dozen times. So yeah. Helps. Danke.
