Because I'm curious?

I knew that my old home in Memphis had spoiled me for a lot of things -- but I wouldn't have thought that sidewalks were a luxury. The section of Columbia, SC I was in didn't have them, and Nashville... has sporadic sidewalks. Here for a while, then gone. On one side of the street, but not the other, and no way to get the traffic lights to let pedestrians across safely. It's the weirdest damn thing. (Don't start me on the availability of buses here. I'm on the far NE side of the city. They're rare. And really, I want to be able to go walk.)

Anyway. Could y'all comment and let me know whether it's safe to walk in your neighborhoods? Because, really, I'm wondering how spoiled I apprently was.
