Finalmente!
Finally, after a couple of failed tries (long story) and him lugging around this conspicuous box in his jacket pocket for several days (maybe longer), R finally mustered up the courage! In front of a hoard of foreign tourists, no less! Gotta give props to the guy. For someone so shy and low key, he picked Coit Tower as the place to propose. Yes, that same tower with the busload of tourists and you have to wait half an hour for a parking spot.
It is also about 1/4 mile from my office, and has a fantastic 360 degree view of San Francisco.
Apparently, he asked a foreign tourist to take a photo of the entire thing. I was busy looking at the coins left on the windowsill around the tower when he said "Hey, I have a secret for you!" Then, he gets down on one knee, pulls out a box, opens it, another box pops out, opens that box, and the ring comes tumbling out of the box and into the floor. We both laugh. (All of this is capture in photos, btw) Then he said "If I promise to cook you with lots of love everyday, will you marry me?"
Of course, given that he promised to cook ME and not for ME, and I didn't get it right away, I hugged him and said "Of course!"
Only later did we realize that he promised to cook me.
Whoops.
Then when we were in the car, he asked me: "Did you say yes ba?"
Duh.
But it was nice, none the less. We then ventured to a couple more tourist attractions and took photos. We'll post more after we talk to the parental units and we get over our Facebook shyness and finally change our status to "Engaged".
