1) I went to the Home Office to have my biometric details taken. The whole experience was efficient and quite pleasant, actually. They were very efficient and wonderfully polite. I don't know if I just happened to go on a good day or if this is consistent, but either way, I came out of a bureaucratic exercise feeling quite happy. They must be doing something right.
2) I have decided to have my baby at home like
kashinthegreen. It makes sense to me. I had been a bit worried that I might have to argue for it, but this was not the case. Yesterday, one of the midwives from the homebirth team called me. She was absolutely lovely and very warm. She is one of a team of five, so if she is not available, one of them will be. However, she will be my main point of contact and, if all is well, she will be the one to assist me when small one decides to arrive. If her telephone manner is anything to go by, this is a good start.
3) After she comes round in September, all other antenatal checks will be at home. Hurrah!
4) She told me about some antenatal and postnatal groups that she and the other midwives run which will be a great help.
5) I discovered, after persistent suggestion from
raygungothic, that sleeping when one is nearly 21 weeks pregnant can be made easier with the application of more pillows.
